Experience the story of a crucial turning point in our country’s fight for independence! This 90-minute trolley tour is led by National Park Service trained tour guides. Our tour will depart from the Visitor Center at 11:00am and include stops at the newly expanded Muhlenberg Brigade hut site and the original house that was General Washington’s Headquarters at Valley Forge. Trolley tours are ADA accessible and can accommodate two wheelchairs. There will be snacks and water on board.
We will carpool from CPC, meeting at 9:30am and planning to arrive at Velley Forge by 10:15am to view the exhibits in the Visitor Center and prepare for our tour. If you wish to meet us at Valley Forge instead, please plan to arrive by 10:15am.
Our tour will end at 12:30pm and we will proceed to the nearby Black Powder Tavern for lunch. We will order off the menu and have separate checks. Since 1746, the building that houses Black Powder Tavern has played a part in the establishment of our nation. It's believed that during the infamous winter of 1777–1778 at Valley Forge, the tavern served as a secret black powder munitions stash for Continental Army couriers. Today, they honor the historic tavern’s tradition and invite you to experience the small and large plates, craft beers and revolutionary hospitality that is Black Powder Tavern.
The Black Powder Tavern is located at 1164 Valley Forge Road, Wayne, PA 19087, Tel: (610) 293-9333. You can view their menu at https://blackpowdertavern.com
